Sharkara Varatti or Sarkara Varatti is an indispensable and most popular item in Onam Sadhya and almost all festive occasions. The traditional and tasty snack dish is unique with thick plantain chips, deep fried in oil and coated in jaggery mixture. Sharkara Varatti is an easy to prepare snack and plantains are one of the most popular fruits available in Kerala. Unripe plantains are selected for preparation of the dish.
